- Hi GPNewbie, Try installing XML Parser 3.0, SP5 instead. You can find XML Parser 3.0, SP5 here. This should solve your problem. I do not understand why SP7 does not do the job, but I do know people who have experienced the same problem successfully worked around it by what I suggested above.
- Hi, Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community. To install MS XML Parser you have to select msxml6_x64.msi. Note: Above file is designed only for 64bit Operating System. Before you install, I would suggest you to check the architecture of the operating system. Follow the steps below.

Hi,
Install the latest version of the Microsoft XML Parser In the Worldwide Downloads list, select the appropriate language for your computer and then click Go. In the Keywords box, type Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack and then click Go. In the list of available downloads, click Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 4 (SP4). A Better Way to Uninstall Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5) with Added Benefits. There is a much easier and safer way to uninstall Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5) completely. A third party uninstaller can automatically help you uninstall any unwanted programs and completely remove all of its files and free up your hard disk space. With Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML), formerly known as the Microsoft XML Parser, customers can build XML-based applications that follow the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) XML standards. MSXML is a Component Object Model (COM) implementation of the W3C DOM model.
My PC is an Acer Aspire ASE380-ED420A with an AMD Athlon 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.20GHz, 32-bit Operating System, 4.00GB (3.25GB usable) RAM that has been upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Professional. When I run Secunia PSI 3.0 (Personal Software Inspector), the report says my PC's Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) 4.x program is at End of Life. When I click to update, a window pops up saying, 'An error occurred while opening the link in your default browser. Would you like to use Internet Explorer?' This is odd because my default browser is IE11 but I click 'OK' so that I can proceed. This brings me to the Microsoft Download website. When I press 'Download', I get the option of downloading four different MSXML files. They are msxml6.msi (1.5MB), msxml6_ia64.msi (3.6MB), msxml6_SDK.msi (4,4MB) and msxml6x64.msi (2.6MB). According to the website, I require the msxml6.msi file. When I click a checkmark in the box next to that file, I get the option to press 'Run' or 'Save'. When I click on 'Run', a window pops up saying, 'Completing the MSXML 6.0 Parser set up. Set up has installed MSXML 6.0 Parser successfully. Click Finish to exit.' After I click 'Finish', I have tried both running the Secunia PSI program and restarting my PC first and running Secunia PSI but either way my PC has not updated from MSXML 4.x to 6.x. If anyone knows what the problem could be with updating this file, PLEASE let me know.
